We’ve updated the links for the US branches in our link list. We’ll be adding more soon and updating the international ones as well.
I hope everyone is having a good summer. We’re looking forward to the 2011 North American Gasshuku in Martinez, CA in early September. We hope to see everyone there! Until then, remember that summer is a great time to train and make great improvements!

Welcome back from summer everyone. Fall session starts October 5th. We hope everyone’s well rested from our break. We had a great time in New York at the 2nd Annual North American Taikai. Good to see everyone there and train with kenshi from all over the country!

Class begins: October 5th Tuesday.
Class times: Tuesday and Thursday 7-8:30pm (please show up at 6:30pm for warm ups if you can)
Class location: RIMAC activity room 3

New Black Belt!

We’re very proud to congratulate one of our former students who now practices in bay area at the Penninsula branch (although she’ll alway be a San Diego student to us). Ellen Kats just passed her Shodan Black Belt promotion exam! Congratulations, Ellen! Otsukaresama deshita!!

We hope everyone had a great 2009. We’re very much looking forward to what awaits us for 2010.

After a short break, winter session will commence on Tuesday January 12th. at the UCSD RIMAC Building. Those new to Shorinji Kempo that are interested in joining the class, please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself. UCSD will allow you to audit the class before requiring you to sign up. If you do wish to enroll, it can be done here at the UCSD recreation page.

Congratulations to Paul and Kenny for passing their Shodan Black Belt Examinations. Also congratulations go out to Masa for passing his 3rd Kyu Examination. Well done guys!!

Fall Session

We hope everyone is having a good summer. Fall session will start again on Tuesday Oct 6th. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone again after our short break.

For those new faces that are interested in trying the class, please feel free to stop by and introduce yourself. Most sessions, UCSD will allow you to audit the class before requiring you to sign up. If you do wish to enroll, it can be done here at the UCSD recreation page.

Also, we will be performing a short demonstration on Sept. 21st at the Main Gym of UCSD as part of Welcome Week for new UCSD students. There will be a variety of groups in attendance. The event will take place from 6-8pm.

Updated Directions and Parking for Gasshuku

We’ve updated the parking and directions pdf to reflect the new parking location for the Gasshuku. There will construction in the lot previously mentioned. The actual Gasshuku will still be held at the RIMAC building as planned. Sorry for any confusion.

We have planned a group workout with other So-Cal branches in late May. All So-Cal Shorinji Kempo kenshi are welcome to attend. Please check with your branch master for registration details. We look forward to hosting this session. Here are the details. Watch this space for any updates.

Saturday May,23rd 2009 at UCSD (RIMAC Center)
10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (lunch and plenty breaks in between sessions).

Each branch is encouraged to have “Kumi-enbu”.
Each Branch Master will lead sessions in differrent levels.

Spring Break

Classes will be on hold for our Spring Break. We will be resuming Tuesday March 31st for the new session. Please remember to register ahead of time. For now, enjoy the time off and we’ll be seeing you at the end of the month.

We’re also planning a welcome bar-b-que for the start of the next session. More details will be coming after we start up classes again.
